Informational Meeting on Monday, August 28th in TEL-262 after school. PowerPoint for that meeting: NHS.Application.Meeting.pptx
Membership in the National Honor Society (NHS) is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student. Our chapter has worked hard to bring the accomplishments of outstanding students to the attention of parents, teachers, peers, and the community. Our chapter strives to give practical meaning to the Society’s standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These four ideals are considered as the basis for selection. No student is inducted simply because of a high academic average. The National Honor Society strives to recognize the total student—one who excels in all of these areas. The standards used for selection are:
Scholarship• 3.5 cumulative unweighted GPA or
• 4.0 cumulative weighted GPA |
Service• 100 community service hours verified by Rotary Futures
|
Leadership• Membership in 2 school clubs or organizations (one can be a sport). One must provide some type of service to the community! You must be a member of those clubs/organizations prior to application year. Additionally, we are looking for a leadership role that you have taken on at school or in your community. This may include showing initiative, exercising a positive influence on peers, dependability, leadership in the classroom, inspiring others, and contributing ideas to make your school or community a better place. Please see the Leadership Documentation form for specifics.

Character• 5 teacher recommendations that reflect your effort and integrity in the classroom or in a club/organization.
